How to collect and upload UNIX AND WINDOWS

Unix Data Collection Method

1) Download the Data Collection Script from the ZENfra Application, Download. Note: The script will work with privileged access on the Local as well as Remote server.


2) Steps to execute the scripts.

        • copy zenfraunixcollection.sh and zenfraunixcmds to folder.

        • chmod 755 zenfraunixcollection.sh zenfraunixcmds


3) Local Server (single server) collection, ./zenfraunixcollection.sh -c zenfraunixcmds


4) It will create a tar file at the end, you can upload tar file to ZENfra or a FTP site


5) Multiple server collection from Jumpserver(should have remote SSH enabled, if you have other types of remote logins, please reach the ZENfra team for modification

        • Create a server list file


6)Sample server list file

        • abc

        • xyz

        • bdf


7) Execute the below command: ./zenfraunixcollection.sh -l serverlist -c zenfraunixcmds


8) It will create a tar file at the end, you can upload a tar file to ZENfra or an FTP site by referring to Log Upload Steps.

UNIX Emcgrab Method (Secondary)

1) Login as administrator into the server where the configuration data to be collected.


2) Download the UNIX data collection script from ZENfra.

     ➢ AIX - Download

     ➢ HPUX - Download

     ➢ LINUX - Download

     ➢ SOLARIS - Download


3) Extract the tar file.


4) Go to the emcgrab directory.


5)Execute the emcgrab.sh script file.


6) It will ask for the below information. Type information as required.

      • Do You Agree To Accept The Terms & Conditions Of This Legal Agreement(Y/N): Y

      • EMC Grab Identification Information

             I. Service Request Number: No Information Supplied

             II. Customer Party Number:

             III. Customer Company Name:

             IV. Customer Contact Name:

              V. Customer Phone Number:

             VI. Customer Email Address:

             VII. Hostname / OS Info: hostname / AIX (or) HPUX (or) LINUX (or) SOLARIS

     • Is the EMC Grab Identification Information Correct (Y/N): Y

     • Do you want to collect SMI-S information (y/n)? n

     • Do you want to collect XtremIO Array information (y/n)? n

     • Please submit this file to EMC for Analysis. Thank you. Removing Temporary Files...


7) Check the file is generated.


8) Collect the .tar file and tar all the server’s log files.


9) Upload the log file into ZENfra by referring to Log Upload Steps.

Windows Data Collection Method (Recommended)

Executing The Collection Script On A Single Server:

1) Login as administrator into the server where the configuration data is to be collected.


2) Download “ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript.zip” from ZENfra Application, Download


3) Open PowerShell/PowerShell ISE.


4) Under the script’s root directory, run the script as follows,

        • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>./ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript.ps1

        • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>

        • Select-1 - For Local Server (single server) collection.


5) The log file will be stored in the $Home\Desktop\ZENLog directory.


6) Upload the log file into ZENfra by referring to Log Upload Steps.

Executing the Collection Script On The Jump Server (To Collect The Logs On Remote Servers):

Note:

• Should have WINRM enabled on the Jump server. (For remote login)

• Should have allowed this WINRM-HTTP-In-TCP-PUBLIC -RemoteAddress Any on Jump server’s Firewall.


1) Login as administrator into the Jump server.


2) Download “ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript.zip” from ZENfra Application, Download


3) Open PowerShell/PowerShell ISE.


4) Under the script’s root directory, run the script as follows, make sure to add your remote server's name in the serverlist.txt file before running the script.

         • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>cat serverlist.txt

           (i) server1.example.com, (ii) server2.example.com, (iii) server3.example.com

         • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>

         • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>./ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript.ps1

         • PS C:\ZENfra_WindowsCollectionScript>, Select-2 - For Multiple server collection.


5) The Master.zip file will be stored in the home directory $Home\Desktop.


6) Upload the Master.zip file into ZENfra by referring to Log Upload Steps.

Windows EMC Grab Method (Secondary)


1) Login as administrator into the server where the configuration data to be collected.


2) Download the Windows data collection script from ZENfra, Download.


3) Execute the EMCRPTS_X64_V58.exe or EMCRPTS_X86_V56.exe application depending on the architecture of the Operating System installed and wait for the program to close automatically and a new window will open with the Output file in .rar format.


4) Collect the .rar file and zip all the server’s log files.


5) Upload the Windows log file into ZENfra by referring to Log Upload Steps.

How to upload Data in ZENfra

Uploading Data manually into ZENfra

1. Navigate to "Data Upload ➜ Data Upload ➜ Log Upload"

2. Select the "Upload Data" option.

3. Select the "Server" option.

4. Select the "Unix & Windows (EMC Grab & ZENfra Collection)" option.

5. Click on the "Select Files to Upload" button to choose the files or "drag" the files from your system to the area above this button.

6. Click on the "Upload Only" button for just uploading the log file or click on the "Upload & Process" button to upload the log and parse the data from the log file. Click on the "+" button to upload additional logs.

7. The Status Field of the "Uploaded Data History" table shows the status of the file processing. Once the report is generated, the status will be changed to "Successfully Processed". The status will be "File Processing" while the uploaded data is being processed. The status will be "Process not Started" if the data is uploaded and not processed. If the status is "Process Failed", the reason could be any of the below.

  • Data may be uploaded in different device type
  • Uploaded data may not be in the supported format
  • Incomplete data collection

Uploading Data using FTP into ZENfra

Refer to the FTP Configuration on ZENfra for configuring the FTP integration in ZENfra

Uploading Data collected using Tanium

1. Navigate to "Data Upload ➜ Data Upload ➜ Log Upload"

2. Select the "Upload Data" option.

3. Select the "Server" option.

4. Select the "Tanium" option.

5. Click on the "Select Files to Upload" button to choose the files or "drag" the files from your system to the area above this button.

6. Click on the "Upload Only" button for just uploading the log file or click on the "Upload & Process" button to upload the log and parse the data from the log file. Click on the "+" button to upload additional logs.
