How to Collect VNX(SPCollect) data

Data collection Procedure

1. Login to the Unisphere console

2. Select the array you want to collect data from

3. Click on the “System” tab, then click on “Generate Diagnostic Flies – SPA” under the “DiagnosticFiles” section on the right

4. Click on the "YES" to generate the SP Collect Data for SPA

5. Click on the “OK” to confirm the success of the process

6. Now click on the “Generate Diagnostic Files – SPB” under the “Diagnostic Files” section on the right

7. Click on the "YES" to generate the SP Collect Data for SPB

8. Click on the “Get Diagnostic Files – SPA

9. The "SPA – File Transfer Manager" window will appear

10. Sort the files by date with the most recent date at the top by clicking the top of the “Date” column

11. Highlight the “APMxxxxxx.zip” file (Depending on your array – your file may not start with “APM” but with a different set of letters. Regardless, the rest of the file name will be followed by a series of numbers_SPA_date_time)

12. Select your destination directory where you want the file saved to (Use something easy to find like C:\)

13. Click the “Transfer” button below the list of files

14. Click on the "YES" to confirm you want to transfer the file

15. In the “Transfer Status” window – look and wait for the file transfer to report successful (This may take a minute or so). Once the transfer is successful click OK

16. The "SP B – File Transfer Manager" window will appear

17. Sort the files by date with the most recent date at the top by clicking the top of the “Date” column

18. Highlight the “APMxxxxxx.zip” file (Depending on your array – your file may not start with “APM” but with a different set of letters. Regardless, the rest of the file name will be followed by a series of numbers_SPA_date_time)

19. Select your destination directory where you want the file saved to (Use something easy to find like C:\)

20. Click the “Transfer” button below the list of files

21. Click on the "YES" to confirm you want to transfer the file

22. In the “Transfer Status” window – look and wait for the file transfer to report successful (This may take a minute or so). Once the transfer is successful click OK

23. Open up Windows Explorer or whichever file manager you use and go to the destination directory to where you have downloaded the files to. Verify the SPA and SPB .zip files are there

24. Upload into ZENfra. Please refer ZENfra Log Upload steps


How to upload Data in ZENfra

1. Navigate to Data Upload → Data Upload → Log Upload.

2. Select on the "Upload Data" option.

3. Select the "Storage" option.

4. Select the "VNX(SPCollect)" option.

5. Click on the “Select Files to Upload” button to choose the files or drag the files from your system to the area above this button.

6. Click on the “Upload” button for just uploading the log file or click on the “Upload & Process” button to upload the log and parse the data from the log file. Click on the “+” button to upload additional logs.

7. Once the file has been parsed successfully, in the Status column of the Imported Data History table, you can see the “Successfully Processed” message. If the file has failed to parse, then you will see a “Processing Failed” message in the Status column.
